6th - 10th July
This week we have been given improvements for us to work through. My improvements were to add more detail to my magazine analysis on thinglink, read back through my movie-maker trailer analysis of Cabin in the woods and fix all spelling mistakes and grammar.
This took me two lessons to do and for the rest of the lessons this week i have begun to work on my other tasks which I will continue to work on through the summer.
My other tasks include: Analyse the lighting and sound in another trailer (1000 words)
Analyse the lighting and colour in another trailer (1000 words)
Writing a short paragraph of what i have learnt from this as i will

29th - 3rd June/July
Towards the end of last week and beginning of this week I finished my magazine analysis and my trailer analysis of Cabin in the woods so at the end of this week I have been putting all my focus on my film poster analysis.
I decided to do my analysis this time on prezi as on prezi it is easy to zoom in on certain parts of a poster.
We also this week as a class have been looking into conventions of horror and what makes up a horror trailer/film.

22nd - 26th June
This week we have been analyzing different horror trailers, we each had to pick one horror trailer to start to do our own analysis of, looking at mise-en-scene, camera shots/angles, editing and sound.
The trailer I picked was Cabin in the woods, in this task I have to look into conventions of a horror trailer and by looking into this trailer i have a wide understanding of what conventions of a horror trailer include and how to spot them.
This preparing me for when I rejoin into my group and we begin to plan our own horror trailer.
Towards the end of this week we were also given a task of doing an analysis of a film poster and of a film magian front cover, I have chosen the film poster 'sinister' as as soon as I saw it I could tell it was a horror film poster from the conventions it had. The magazine front cover I chose was an Empire" magazine front cover of Captain America and this helped me build my knowledge of key words such as 'masthead' and 'cover lines' and how these are important to a magazine front cover.
Our media department also in this week purchased a green screen for us to use over our A2 course to widen our creative knowledge even further, learning how to use it effectively. This is a video of our class putting up the green screen-

What have we learnt about horror trailers?
- Gives the audience the name of the film
- Shows when the release date is

- Only one to two minutes long.
-Often has music playing in the background which is often associated with the genre e.g. Horror films would use suspense building music.
- The main aim of a film trailer is to make the audience go and see the film.
- Shows the audience where the main settings of the film are.
- Introduces main characters to the audience, giving the audience knowledge whether or not they can relate to them.
- A brief outline of the plot, which doesn't tell you the ending to the film but involves action/suspense to keep the audience watching.
- Don't fully expose the antagonist.
- Provides details of websites/hash-tags to promote the film as a brand at the end of the trailer.
- Use silence to build silence and suspense.
